VACATION ACCRUAL & USE
Although your accrual bank grows gradually, you do not have to wait to accrue hours before you can use them.
You may take any or all of your total annual allotment at any time between the beginning of the fiscal year (July 1) and the expiration date of the vacation hours (August 31 of the following year) - provided it is approved by your manager and it does not exceed your annual allotment.
Example: if you have fewer than 5 years of service, your annual allotment is 80 hours. You can use your 80 hours at any time from July 1 through August 31 of the following year.
It's OK if your Vacation accrual bank shows a negative balance temporarily so long as you don't exceed your annual allotment.
If your employment terminates and you have a negative balance, the dollar value of the negative balance will be deducted from your final paycheck. If your final paycheck is not sufficient to cover the balance, you will be required to pay Latin the amount of the shortfall.
VACATION ROLLOVER
The PTO rollover happens on July 1st each year - the first day of our new fiscal year.
Vacation time, though, has a two-month grace period over the summer. Here's the schedule.
July 1 – August 31:
You may use both:
- Any unused Vacation time from the prior fiscal year, and
- Newly available Vacation time for the current fiscal year (a new PTO bank opens July 1).
September 1:
- Up to 16 hours of unused Vacation from the prior fiscal year will roll over into the new fiscal year.
- Any remaining balance above 16 hours will be forfeited.
